From New York Times bestselling author Jana DeLeon, the first in a new thriller series.

Everyone wondered about Shaye Archer’s past. Including Shaye.

Share Archer’s life effectively began the night police found her in an alley, beaten and abused and with no memory of the previous fifteen years, not even her name. Nine years later, she’s a licensed private investigator, with a single goal—to get answers for her clients when there aren’t supposed to be any.

And maybe someday, answers for herself.

Emma Frederick thought her nightmare was over when she killed her abusive husband, but someone is stalking her and tormenting her with mementos from her past. With no evidence to support her claims, the police dismiss her claims as post-traumatic stress, but Shaye is convinced that someone is deliberately terrorizing Emma…playing a cat and mouse game with only one goal in mind.

To kill Emma.

  • Best thriller ever

Malevolent is the best thriller I’ve ever read, and that is saying something given how much I read. The characters of Shaye, Emma, and Jackson are complex and interesting. The plot is carefully sculpted with just enough terror, just enough hope, just enough red herrings, just enough eeriness. My previous favorite, Loves Music, Loves to Dane by Mary Higgins Clark is awesome, but this book is better. I highly recommend Malevolent.
  • A great mystery

I have always loved to escape with books...especially mysteries. Ms. DeLeon has carved a permanent space in my reading repertoire following my introduction to Shaye Archer the heroine in her page turning novel, Malevolent. With NOLA being of my favorite settings, I can't wait to return in another one of her mysteries!

I liked this book right away, but it got better and better as I read. The ending was a shock, but made sense of the baffling clues along the way. Now I can’t wait to read the next two books!

This book had all the twists and turns that kept you wondering where it was taking you. A great read I recommend it if you want something that will keep you turning pages well into the night.
  • Chilling and shocking

I originally sort out my normal genre of reading “romance novel” but inadvertently stumbled upon this book. The read was chilling to my bones, filled with suspense and the ending was unexpected. I loved every aspect of it and might have a new genre to add to my collection now. I can’t wait to read the next book that follows this one.

Well written and captivating for two thirds of the book. Then things kind of fell apart. It was so disappointing because finding a female author to follow is tough. I will not search out another read by this author, but may just stumble upon one and be surprised.
  • So addicting!!!

This is the first book in the series of 5 and they are all hard to put down. Thrilling and exciting with characters you love and love to hate. Amazing and enthralling read!!! I only wish it had more books in the series
